week 17 class 2
Watching everybody's work.
All the incredible work done by my classmates were absolutely amazing. To be honest, while comparing myself to friends' work, I was a bit disappointed while I was struggling to know the rigging system in Toonboom which is in a node base. After watching several youtube tutorials.
I fell in love with the software at the end which I was always ignoring considering that it was hard.
Its a first time doing rigging using node base.
At the same time, I was carrying on with my own assignment.
Exporting files from photoshop to toon boom was very tedious and time-consuming. It would be the best thing to make character and environment in Toonboom. But working in Photoshop was also fun and easy for me.

I couldn't upload my final video on this blog because it's file size exceeds more than 100 Mb.
It took me a long time to understand and learn the node-based system in the toon boom harmony. But I absolutely liked it and hope to continue and broaden my understanding on this particular method in the near future.

Week 17
Final submission of the second Assignment
Submitting final assessment for BSA 124 Stop Motion And cleaning up the mess from the workshop.
Watching everybody's work once again was definitely exciting. The further extension given by my tutor really helped most of the groups to correct their final video.
It was hard to decide who is going to edit my final video, I had previously corrected the lighting for my video but Aron later decided to edit furthermore in the final video which we handed in.
I could notice the lighting mistake and even some other issues.
Movie watched
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

I am very happy to receive my marks from the stop-motion class. This shows that all the hard effort and time we gave for our work have been valued. And I feel very thankful for my tutor. The lesson I've learnt is that it is not about the outcome, perfection but all about teamwork, time involvement and hard work and proper skill development.

I have never watched or heard about this type of movie where you can literally choose between two options. From the research from the internet, I found that Bandersnatch is a 2018 intuitively film within the science fiction collection arrangement Dark Reflect. It was composed by arrangement maker Charlie Brooker and coordinated by David Slade. Netflix discharged the standalone film on 28 December 2018.
In Bandersnatch, watchers make choices for the most character, the youthful software engineer Stefan Butler, who is adjusting a daydream choose-your-own-adventure novel into a video diversion in 1984.

week 17 class 1
Next I need to make a walk cycle for my character and prepare the final video. I suppose there are very less voice over for this project. And I need to hurry up by compiling everything.
My current difficulty is that I make things way to advance and think big, This can be hazardous while executing. So I better need to stick with the simplicity and with own creative ideas.
All of my files are scattered at the moment. and my mind is not clear what and where to find the respective files. I would say I have definitely struggle this semester and want to consider toughest work.Rigging in Toon boom seems very exciting and interesting after watching numerous tutorials. and it is on my next bucket list for mastering the software. I do 2d animation in After effects and I find Toon boom a lot better. just because of the limitation that I have for using this software, it puts me on time deficit.

Creating Curve Deformer
Its always better to start with a first click where the pivot is going to be. After that create an end point and use the curving properties.
Next, the selected part can be rotated from pivot point controller. and toggle helps to bend the part.
Kinematics helps to parent the secondary object with first one.
The given tutorial explains in brief about animating a character and using a node graph for ease and effective outcomes.
Selecting all the drawing layer and applying attribute called "order node view up" allows you to align all the drawing layer in organized manner. Then selecting and pressing Ctrl + Shift + P will add peg to every single drawing and naming them as an original one.
Adding composite(Ctrl+H) layer and making it pass through in layer properties. The main idea for this property is it doesn't squash image, makes it more separate in 3d space. After compositing you can group them > command +G.
Cutter tools
This helps to cut excess body parts which appears outside. What is going to be cut goes to the right hand side and what we used to cut goes to left hand side and also invert the cutter.
B will select the peg layer(yellow in color) above drawing(pink in colour) to select all the hierarchy and flexible to move.
Deformer
Two types of deformer. They are Bone deformer, curve deformer with two points, very cartoony , bendy look.
Autopatch
To make selected object appear in front.
From this tutorial, I was some how able to do rigging, and develop the understanding of tools and method of rigging. next I will be making him walk.
While working in a background always make a palleted for a background.

week 16
Doing the title sequence for the submission for the final assignment.
I really liked everybody's work, They have done best with their stop motion video.
Mostly these videos were creative and ambitious.
I would consider my group has done well as well. since we have put so much effort into this. We had to show some thing. Mostly the issue I found with our footages is the camera keeps on slighting every time. Which we really need to put in concern.
In this picture, we have put a marker on the floor, but didn't seem to be effective at all. One which would hold it better in its position would be the best idea. since this is our first attempt on doing stop motion animation. we have learned a lot from our mistakes and weaknesses.
Making Credit for our final shot
Alicia did her best to come up with a credit sequence which I think is pretty good. and appreciate her effort.

Week 15
seeing everyone's work
My views on everybody's work.
Thomas and screen did some green screening with the hand movement,
Pixel effects, mosaic effect.
Regil and Ben
What I liked about these guys are that they have experimented well with the lens and focus. Colour saturation
Maxe's group
Their animation looks very vibrant, unique and smooth. They have given the attention to detail such as character breathing, wheel moving, The concept for the story is simple, funny and creative.
Bella's group
Cool papercut outs animation, video mostly covered shadows and highlights throughout the scene. cool animation and interaction between lady and men.
Migs group
Paper cut out stop motion looks very appealing and satisfying, story concept, camera closeup are used very effectively.
Stop motion shoot today:
We wre still behind from shooting our final scene, these images below are captured by my group and they have shared it so that we all can use it for our blog. I am a bit at the disadvantage of not having a smartphone. Hopefully I will get in future. this would be very handy for taking shots in future.
Used camera at various angles for scene 3 when the character changes its head.
Found the solution for shaky footage.
Wrap stabilizer in After Effects

22/10/2019
Continuing with our stop-motion.
We were able to shoot the circle scene, where the character replaces his rectangular head with a circular head. for this scene I took the lead to give the character a movement and wasn't easy. I had to nail its feet to the hardcover grass in every move Ani animate its upper body at the same time. changing different camera angles helped to make the shot look more dynamic and interesting.
We have the plan to shoot tomorrow as well just at 6 pm.

think and create (week 17)
THINK & CREATE
I am a first-year student here at SIT and I am pursuing a diploma in animation Level 5.
For my Think and create a project, I have decided to shoot a video of Invercargill street and composite it later with the software called Adobe After Effects.
This was one of the short descriptions that I outlined my assignment and what I have done to achieve the final results. It was a new experience for me doing the work which interests me the most. it was not always easy, I have watched numerous tutorials and learned about Adobe built-in plugins. At the think and create showcase I even got the criticism for my work where some of the guys came up with the word tutorial.
But I take it as a true fact. I did watch the tutorials and did all by my self. the compositing stuff is not yet taught in my college. and I got positive feedback from tutor Rechial who teaches compositing for the senior class.
And I liked the concept of Conducting Think and create a show where every individual could show what they are capable of and the tutor's advice always helps.
Posting great animation and educational contend on facebook by students and my tutor itself helps a lot to explore the approach towards uncanny valley and cinematography. I am very thankful for my tutor's effort and her support for us.
The following video is the primarily shot footage. With which I'll be compositing later on.

film Editing, Shooting and making of the stop motion Animation
For Editing the moving video file I have used Adobe After effects and photoshop to edit the individual footage. For my group, I have taken the initiative to do the final video editing.
Today's task was to key out the walk cycle of our character. we shoot the video a day before yesterday. For this particular scene, Aron did the potential poses for a walk cycle, where I helped to shoot the video.
The following video was captured yesterday night. for these stop-motion we started from 7pm till 12 am.
We even made the background for the scene. and took the single image of it.
The first image has a character in it, I don't know why Aron wants to include it in the shot even though I said no, Later I need to remove it using photoshop.
Now I will be using the final background/plate in Adobe after effects.
and composite with character walk cycle.
Compositing final shot
While keying I couldn't get rid of green stuff in the footage, decided to mask every frame to exclude the green stuff seen under his leg.

Above footage shows the final outcome of compositing. For me, everything looks good except the character movement. Its shaky and uneven through out the scene. But my group members suggests it as its quality which represents its personality. In other sense, its imperfection.

Week 14
Presentation week and the submission for the assignment.
I have finally managed to submit my assignment through blackboard.
Presentation at class
Seeing everybody's work really inspired me and I feel amazed seeing the videos and powerpoint created by class mates
My Tutor picked every presenter according to their will or interest.
Here is the web site for creating the source link for my paragraphs which I have listed in my Power point.
I find it easy to read the article on the internet and write it on my own sentences. For the invention of George melies, I have read numerous article from different websites like Britannica, Imdb and Wikipedia for rough knowledge.

Week 14
Week 14 was mainly focused on further discussion about moving on with the work we are doing.
I feel the same way after hearing the advice and suggestions from the tutor. Rather than indulging our time for perfecting the first scene we shall be working on the next scene instead despite having a short deadline.
I feel sorry about being late at lunch break. I didn't do it intentionally but had to order food outside and it took some extra time. from next time I won't be repeating the same mistake. otherwise, my tutor would mark me as absent.
Today's achievement during the class was that I created a copy of the wire armature.
Shooting started from 7 till 11 pm
This time we emphasized completing the shots and we made it. We still have a couple of scenes to do which we will be doing next time. Morgan was busy making triangles character and I would say she is very good at paper shapes.
Meanwhile, we made an animation, gave some walk cycle and movement to the sheep, Aron stand very good at giving the character a walk cycle and movement. As walk cycle for these characters are extremely difficult since we need to attach its base in the ground with the help of sharp nails.
We could have been more practical and realistic to the character and their movement. most of the characters were made out of paper which was pretty fragile. and the body parts such as hands and lege were not very well attached to the body. it would fall from time to time. Therefore the effort we have devoted to this project is very crucial and worthy.
Camera movement and different Perspective angle
We thought of capturing the shots from three different camera positions which would make our scene look more dynamic considering that we would make best out from our 3D props and sets.

Added some fire element using CC particle system II
The problem I have faced with the footage:
The footage doesn't have an alpha channel which is a big problem for this problem. the Shot was captured using.
I was having trouble exploring the software because I only had a limited understanding of the software.
But this also encourages me to try various compositing software like The foundry's Nuke.
I have worked on several footages for my assignment considering that it might be handy later.
