Week 1
Write about yourself.
My name is Akshay Shrestha and I'm 25 yrs old. I was originally born in the Midwestern region of Nepal that is Pyuthan. Later, I was brought and raised in the city of Nepal. I completed my high school from a boarding school.
Later, I had some basic training on visual effects where I was taught how to perform tasks based on Rotoscoping, Chroma Keying, 3D Camera tracking, and compositing. I've spent more than 4 years of working experience in this field but I didn't find it progressive in terms of learning, I was not learning new skills and was rather doing the same jobs like rotoscoping, matte painting, camera track repeatedly.
I am a Creative and outdoor person. I like to draw, sketch, play guitar. Doing outdoor exercises such as running, exercising and gym which helps to relax and broaden my mind.
Though English is not our first language, I am very passionate and curious about learning it. I believe in progressing learning and hardworking.
It has been one of the best decision to choose New Zealand for further education. It's a very different experience here, Everything here is well organized and systematic. College is equipped with modern facilities such as high-speed computers and peripheral devices. The courses are taught by highly professional tutors in a very practical way.
First of all, the education and teaching methods here is completely different with compared to ours, We still follow bookish learning and very traditional teaching methods. which I find very outdated and wrong practice.
My future plan is to work in a creative industry as a visual effects artist or an animator. I'll have an opportunity to learn the right way of executing software.s I believe the knowledge and skill I gained from SIT will hopefully make me a very competitive and skillful person.
Every class is running very smoothly so far, but I feel like I'm not familiar with the studying and teaching methods, as this is my first attempt to study overseas.

Week 3
SIT Library tour.
Sit Library has lots of facilities to provide for its students. A lady gathered us and gave an hour of instruction on how to search for an article, ebooks and learning resources from the SIT library online. In my opinion, I found this very helpful as a student.
Nowadays, most of the material and articles are available online. This puts an ease to students to broaden their learning capacity as well as literacy skills. By following the professional and experienced authors who have inscribed valuable information can lead us to the right path. This subsequently helps students to complete their assignments.
Tips for using library resources online.
While searching you can include key terms and terminology for your search.
If books are not available in the library, it can be ordered from other campuses.
- Physical books at the library are listed according to the specific number with their respected fields.
- Must be handed in time else students will be charged extra cost for delaying.
- You are permitted to take many books at once.
- Time for returning books can be extended for two weeks at a time.
