What story you want to tell?
in order to have a good storyline, the ideas should be as good as the character that they drive them. It's said that all the good ideas need to be dramatic where drama means action or to act. Here are the basic things to notice before writing a story. What actually is the story?
have you got compelling enough journey for the character and viewers to go on throughout the movie? Do you have further concepts or followup story ideas for the future?
The main aspect of story writing is the use of coherent word.
What sort of story it is? it's appropriate to use a recognizable genre like thriller, romantic or comedy.
The writer always needs to know all the rules and background for his/her story.
It's good to bring a new perspective to familiar tales, words, subjects, and genres.
It's important to know what audiences experiences feel like. and the emotional responses that your goal is just as important. Are you looking for any physical reaction on the audience? Some stories are so good that they make the audience cry, laugh. terrified and thrilled.
In addition, you may include what are you trying to explore and what are you hoping to communicate. Be aware of not to write anything you don't care about thinking that it would be expedient. It does matter when an idea that will strike a real chord with a viewer or observer. We have to know why people want to see it.
Know what you want to write.
A strong script carries clear concepts of what they are and what they are trying to do. While a weak script instantly starts without really being clear from the start. Great writers usually know how to manipulate with form and medium a manipulate them laterwards while non-professional writer tends to ignore it. In the story, the form represents what kind of shape of the story you are trying to tell. The format is where exactly the broadcast or in other words performance schedule it might sit.
It's appropriate to have an engaging expression in your story. we want the audience to connect and experience with our stories.
Stories have a specific format, whether it is a single drama that is being told from beginning to end. If such is the case, check if it's fit an established format such as the 45 minutes afternoon drama on radio 4? As TV singles are mainly of 60-90 minutes where feature films are usually between 80-120 minutes.
The other thing to be aware of form is that every script is like a blueprint rather than a literature piece. They are written there to be made and to be expressed. Its a good idea not to be more precise about the words on the page. It's just the beginning of something bigger.
Beginning and Endings
While talking about Endings, you don't really need to know all the detail of the ending. but its a good idea to know in which path you are going. this means you can make best out of most engaging, most meaningful place to start and most captivating. It's important to plan the story before start writing. you need to know what ideas are included in beginning, middle and end. make sure they are not to be predictable. This would outbreak surprises to the audience. Good endings satisfy the audience. but its always not the case. satisfying them doesn't mean simply making them happy and being obvious. it means not having frustratingly open or ambivalent endings. In simple, great endings always fit and tends to bring the story to boil and deliver while bad one jar and goes off time to time that doesn't have a real sense of conclusion or satisfaction they simple implode.
Characters in the story
Good character separates the great scripts from only competent scripts. similarly with great writers from only competent writers. Great character is always active not passive. They are always engaged in some kind of journey. They carry a distinctive behavior, unlike other characters. it's a good idea to include the unique things about them. Emotional engagement for a character should be shown in the story. Protagonists who do very bad things can be the most engaging and enjoyable throughout the story. They are compelling. but it's good to have some kind of emotional life for which we as an audience can empathize. They need to have some kind of vulnerability to add some taste and suspense to the story.
Scene
The scene is generally a combination of time, place and setting where you can show a significant moment or event in the story.to move the story forward scene are placed in order. It comprises of drama or comedy or action . of import or change. exposition and scene are two different things. In the scene, there should be something significant happening. this might be cataclysmic or subtle.
Scenes generally show conflict and tensions, actions and reactions, confusion and decisions. Great script writing has subtext which means the things going on such as conversation or play or act.
It's important to consider, the effect of the scene on the character at the moment, what effect will it have in terms of the event on the subsequent of the story? its impact on the world of the story.
The story should consist of vibrant scenes look and sound feel to make it appear more interesting otherwise it's going to appear dull.
Dialogue
It's always not about what character usually says in the script it's about what they express by the things they say. Their dialogue is always not logical, they do not express by using proper grammar unless they have a different personality. The voices of a great character are identifiable and authentic. they can fully express themselves. so it's important to have a track of what they say in particular speeches or grand statements that don't ring true.
Dialogue is not just about the word coming from the mouth or a word on a page, Its also things that are not said, It's the silences that speak the volumes.
